Tradeprint: category pages and redirects
Keywords in Google’s top 10 rose from 191 to 671 and organic traffic rose 164% after work began in September 2019.
Category pages, redirects and technical briefs for an online trade printer, from September 2019
Project highlights
Tradeprint sells printing online, including flyers, leaflets, posters and business cards. Totally.Digital started SEO work on tradeprint.co.uk in September 2019.
The problem
In November 2019 the Magnolia CMS held 423 live redirects, with more set at the CDN and from third party sites (ExaPrint and InkShop). Of the 137 unique destination URLs, 28 did not return a 200 status code, and some redirects sent visitors to the wrong product or through several hops before the final page.
Some redirects pointed at product pages where a category page was the better match.
What we did
Totally.Digital built a keyword master sheet and a new category structure for the site in November 2019.
We wrote SEO requirements for the category page template and content briefs for category pages including flyers, leaflets, posters, calendars and folders, between November 2019 and January 2020.
In November 2019 we checked all 423 CMS redirects one by one: 226 were kept and 197 were given a new destination.
Technical briefs for an HTML sitemap (December 2019) and product page HTML (January 2020) followed. Each brief listed the exact changes for Tradeprint’s developers to make.
What changed
Measured from the start of work in September 2019 and reported in December 2021:
Organic traffic was up 164%.
The number of keywords ranking in Google’s top 10 rose from 191 to 671.
